100% of all donations received go to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter. We do not use paid canvasers to help raise money for the shelter. It has come to our attention that there are canvassers out there
collecting money for animals shelters, but they take an average of 60%+ of your donation. When approached, always inquire as to whether all of the money reaches the actual charity collected for.

Greetings from the Founder & Executive Director - Carla Martinelli-Irvine
HORROR & SHOCK

The neglect and cruelty to animals depicted recently in the media in connection with the Toronto Humane Society sent horror and shock among pet-lovers in our country. That the Toronto "Humane" Society should be involved in "inhumane" treatment is incomprehensible.
The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter is compelled to express its disgust and abhorrence at the suffering experienced by these unfortunate animals. Furthermore we applaud the closing of the Toronto Humane Society which ideally would be investigating the very kind of circumstances which it has itself perpetrated.
As Manitoba's First Registered Charity "No-Kill" Animal Shelter we are concerned that some will now advocate a more liberal use of euthanasia to prevent further such occurences. However, we emphasize that a "No-Kill" policy must never be a justification for cruelty, and that veterinary treatment and loving care should always be the hallmark of any animal shelter. Both life and the quality of life are sacred.

THOSE ADDED EXPENSES…$25.00/month
Every so often we get newborn puppies and kittens that need special mother’s replacement milk to survive or a cat or dog that needs special food.
A badly matted cat or a dog with very dry skin will need special attention. For only 83 cents a day, the money raised here will be used to enhance the well being
of all shelter animals.

 | HELP FEED A CAT OR KITTEN...$65.00/month
It costs the shelter approximately $2.25

A DOG KENNEL…$100.00/month

 | VETERINARY
BILLS…$80.00/month
From booster shots to spaying and neutering, from frostbitten ears to hernia operations, our animals are always getting the best of care.
Any pet owner will know, veterinary bills add up. This is a huge expense for the shelter as every animal coming in gets health checked and will have immediate treatment when necessary.

 | RENT
FUND…
If we could get 45 people to donate $75.00 a month each… It costs the shelter approximately $3,400 a month to keep a roof over our heads.
With all those precious animals in our care, we need to make them feel safe and loved in a clean and friendly environment until the right family comes along to adopt them.
With no government funding, this is a huge expense for the shelter as well.

SHELTER EXPANSION FUND….TARGET $50,000
Great News! We are expanding! We will be
able to care for even more abandoned, abused or unwanted animals. We need
to build additional cat cages and
dog kennels,
build a new bird aviary and replace our existing dog kennels
and puppy pens. We need to make a separate room for our special needs
and sick pets
so they can get better away from all the hustle and noise
of the daily shelter routine.
