Journey Journey – Beating the Odds

When a very young, distressed, hurt cat was brought in by one of Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter’s off-duty staff after being found in the middle of a highway passed by so many people, the young kitten stood a good chance of having severe head injuries and not surviving the night.

Sometimes the most tragic cases are the ones people pull for the most, and that’s what happened for Journey.

After spending the first night in the 24/7 care of one of WPRS staff and then closely monitored at the Shelter, Journey began to relax. Journey is still shy, but with the WPRS staff working closely with him to make sure he is comfortable; there is no doubt that Journey will grow up to living a healthy happy life.

Saving Semi

An abandoned cat brought in by friends at a nearby local business. The cat was found after the truck driver of the local business was unloading the truck, when Semi came rushing out. Covered in dirt, cuts, scratches, missing fur in some spots, scabs, missing the tips of his ears that had ear mites. Semi was brought into the Shelter after the employees of the store were finally able to capture him safely. The staff at Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter bathed him carefully to remove the smell of diesel fuel (thus the name “Semi”)and dirt his fur was covered in. Semi was then provided a comfortable space to relax, sleep and get the care love and attention from our caregivers. Despite Semi’s struggles, he is a gentle and extremely friendly cat who is so happy to have visitors and be loved by our staff at WPRS.
